Palamaner Ganga Jatara is the annual Folk festival of Palamaner. It is a week long event in every year in most of the areas in Chittoor district (like Chittoor, Palamaner, Kamidoddi, Pathikonda, Gandrajupalli and Tirupati etc.), Andhra Pradesh, India.. This festival is to offer prayers to the goddess Gangamma, who is treated as the Grama Devatha (the goddess looking after the village/town) of Palamaner.


Chatimpu
The Jatara(Folk Festival) Officially begins with Chatimpu(official announcement) during midnight of Tuesday.

As part of the festivities, over two lakh people thronged the temple of the goddess near the palace. The idol was brought to the temple from the palace chambers amidst heavy fanfare and hysterical beating of drums and street performances by traditional artistes of various genres.

Palamaner or Palamaneru is a town in Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Palamaner mandal.

History of Palamaner

The name "Palamaner" originated from "Pallava Yeru", meaning lake dug by Pallavas. "Yeru" in Telugu means lake. Palamaner is also known as Milk City of South India.

Palamaner, a small town on the arc of NH4 connecting Banglore and Chennai, is a surrounded by valleys, hills, falls and forests which was once declared a Elephant Reserve.Palamaner is famous for its chill and moderate climate round the year and its on the border of TamilNadu, Karnataka and AndhraPradesh you would find people with different cultures and origins.

Telugu is the local language here and People speak Tamil and Kannada also
