Sri Kamidoddi Gangamma Jatara
Kamidoddi Ganga Jatara is the annual Folk festival of Naluguroadlu and Nearby villages. This festival is to offer prayers to the goddess Gangamma, who is treated as the Grama Devatha (the goddess looking after the villages of Kamidoddi, Chukkonithopu, Vulligunta, ThathireddyPalli, NaluguRoadlu, Nallthummanapalli, Saramatla palli, Marrimakulapalli, Ponnamakula Palli, KothaPalli, Chellarugunta, etc....)
The Gangamma Jatara is a very famous local festival for the People of Naluguroadlu and Nearby Villages. It is done every year.
This festival is being celebrated every year, in most of the areas in Chittoor district (like Chittoor, Palamaner, Punganur, Pathikonda, Gandrajupalli and Tirupati etc.), Andhra Pradesh, India.
Local people of all communities have been celebrating this Jatara as thanksgiving to the goddess every year since then. A feature of this festival is that the idol of goddess would be kept at her temple only for seven days during the event and during the rest of the year
After the initial pujas, it was bloodbath at the palace zone with sacrificing of hundreds of goats and poultry birds. The frenzy which began in the evening was scheduled to continue till the wee hours.
An estimated 1 lakh people are expected to take part in the Kamidoddi Gangamma Jatara
